Burned spirals inside represent the koru, which is a fern frond beginning to open symbolizing new life.
Kelly's interpretation of a primal life form that could have possibly been found on an ancient sea bed.

Long gone powder post beetle holes mostly contained within the black heart

Turning a sphere or ball
Above photos are of Kelly turning a roughed out, kiln dried ball to it's finished form.
Lidded, long stemmed goblets
2 pieces Kelly created after sitting in on a demo by Jim Christiansen at the Utah Woodturning Symposium.

These goblets are done in 5 parts: base, stem, cup, lid and finial.

Multi-axis, long stemmed, lidded goblet
The stem and finial were turned using multiple axis points on the lathe. This was done in part as our bi-monthly challenge for our woodturning group.
This piece took 2nd in the Masters division.
